Master of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy

Help Strengthen Relationships as a Couples and Family Therapist.

A Blended Curriculum

As a student in the program, you will be taught the skills to help inspire healing, strength and deeper familial connections. You will train under AAMFT-approved supervisors to assess, diagnose and treat individuals and relationships, and you will be prepared to affect real change by addressing trauma, resilience, addictions and more.

COAMFTE Accreditation
In Washington State, as a graduate of our COAMFTE accredited program, you will meet the education requirements for marriage and family therapy associate licensure (LMFTA) and can count up to 500 hours of direct client contact earned from the program towards the 3,000 hours requirement to become fully licensed.

Space for Self-Reflection and Growth
As a student, you will engage in self-reflection, or person-of-the-therapist exploration, to better understand yourself as a provider.

Clinical Reporting Simplified
Students will use the program Lumivero, a cloud-based platform for managing practicums, internships and accreditation for clinical training programs. You will have lifelong access to your Lumivero training record, which will be helpful when applying for licensure or employment.

Equity Scholarships
Every admitted student is automatically considered for Seattle University scholarships. Awards are renewable for multi-year programs if you stay on track toward your degree, with full-time students (6+ credits per term) receiving the highest awards.

I value the familiar rhythm of intimate classes and the invitation to learn through deep systemic inquiry. I’m grateful for an education that honors mind, body, and spirit—and calls us to transform as we learn to accompany others in their becoming.
