No matter where you’re starting from, we have a path that fits your journey. The Two-Year Path is designed for applicants with an undergraduate degree in another field and begins in the fall. The shorter Advanced Standing Path is for those with a CSWE-accredited bachelor’s in social work or social welfare and begins in the summer.

Practicum: Real-World Experience
Take your learning beyond the classroom with field placements that build real-world skills and open doors to future opportunities. Examples of placements include hospitals, schools, justice systems, community-based programs and more.
Learn from a Diverse Team of Experts
The majority of our faculty come from underrepresented communities and many identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, offering students rich perspectives and real-world insights.
Specialization Opportunities
Our Master of Social Work program allows students to choose an optional specialization in addictions counseling, medical/health social work or trauma-informed practice.
Workforce Traineeships
Our program provides two training opportunities in behavioral health, one in K-12 schools and another in community agencies. These workforce traineeships not only give you specialized skills for a career in clinical social work, they also provide tuition support while you prepare for your future in the field.
Seattle University does have a more clinical focus than the other programs I had been looking at, while still providing a great education on social justice and policy issues. I don't think I realized at the time the value for me in going to a smaller program. I felt like my classmates and professors all got to know each other better because of it — and that the school as a whole is more responsive to our concerns as students.
