The MS in Kinesiology allows you to shape your education around your career aspirations. Choose between two tracks—Data in Performance Science or Research in Performance and Movement Science—to focus on applied exercise science, sport analytics or advanced research. Courses integrate biomechanics, exercise physiology, neuromechanics, data analytics and more, giving you the flexibility to develop expertise in areas that align with your professional goals and the rapidly evolving fields of health, sport and performance technology.
Experiential Learning Opportunities
Gain practical experience through graduate assistantships, community-engaged work with the mobile laboratory and research in the Human Performance Lab. Apply scientific knowledge, build professional skills and develop confidence in real-world settings.
Capstone or Thesis Project
All students complete a capstone or thesis project, applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges in sport performance, health analytics or movement research. These projects provide tangible outcomes that showcase your expertise.
Flexible Hybrid Format
Our flexible learning format allows you to balance your education with your other commitments. With only three courses requiring on-campus attendance twice per quarter, you can pursue your degree from anywhere while gaining hands-on experience that directly supports your career goals.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Each academic year scholarships and financial aid are awarded to new and continuing students based on financial need and demonstrated academic performance.
Interdisciplinary Program in Kinesiology and Data Science
Our program integrates biomechanics, exercise physiology, human movement and data analytics to prepare you for careers in sport science, health analytics and applied research.
In the first quarter alone, we were able to perform our own research projects in which we could familiarize ourselves with various equipment of our choosing, such as EMGs, force plates, gait analysis treadmill software, 3D motion capture technology and more. Before I came to SU, I had zero experience with lab technology. Thanks to this program, however, my learning has been taken from textbooks and classrooms to real life application, and I am now confident in my abilities as a researcher.
