Our program is built for working professionals, with flexible degree plans tailored to your needs. If you’re changing careers, you may also receive credit for relevant prior graduate coursework.
As a school psychologist, you’ll play a vital role in guiding students, supporting teachers and creating nurturing spaces for every child. Our program has two paths available depending on whether you have your bachelor’s or master’s degree. Both paths lead to an Educational Specialist Degree (EdS), which is between a master’s degree and a doctoral degree, in addition to Washington State ESA Certification and a National Certificate in School Psychology.
Field-Based Experiences
You’ll engage with the City of Seattle, its public schools and beyond the Puget Sound region. You’ll participate in a cohort model, developing strong relationships with your peers that may last your entire career.
Supportive Environment
Seattle University’s mission of caring for the whole person encourages you to cultivate social responsibility, ethical grounding and global awareness. This holistic approach supports you in becoming a well-rounded school psychologist.
Nationally-Recognized Program
Since 1998, Seattle University’s program has been recognized and approved by the National Association of School Psychologists. In our recent accreditation, they noted how equitable practices for diverse populations are infused throughout our philosophy and content of our program.
Rewarding Careers that Make a Difference
Graduates of our program are in high demand, with career opportunities across a wide range of settings. From K–12 schools and youth service agencies to private practice, mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals and correctional facilities, you’ll be prepared to make a difference wherever your passion leads.
I am glad I chose the program at Seattle University because it has provided me with so many opportunities to grow! I have been able to meet great people and connect with amazing faculty.”
